The Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce hosted an appreciation day meal at the American Legion Hall on Sunday, October 29 to show the community's appreciation of the all volunteer Cole Camp Fire Department. The Cole Camp Mayor, R. E. Schlesselman, and the President of the Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce, Larry J. Stelling signed the following proclamation for the event:Whereas ... the volunteer firefighters of the Cole Camp and Rural Fire Department give unselfishly of their time and effort to provide protection of the lives and property of our community and ...
Whereas ... their energy and faithfulness in training and maintenance of equipment keeps them in constant readiness for any emergency and ...
Whereas ... they are willing to interrupt their daily work and home life to respond at a moments notice to answer the call of duty ...
Therefore, be it resolved ... that October 29th, 2000 be declared as Cole Camp Volunteer Firefighters Appreciation Day ...
And be it further resolved ... that on this day, the people of Cole Camp and the surrounding community take this opportunity to express their gratitude for this generosity and dedication.
The following pictures are of some of the workers for the dinner, and also of the fire equipment on display for the community to view. The first 4 photos are of the dinner in the Legion basement. Some of the Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce or Cole Camp Betterment organization members may be seen working there. Several of the firemen may also be found in some of the following photos taken at the firehouse.
From all of the community to all of the firemen, Thank you!
